  • Member of the Census Scientific Advisory Council and research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research.
  • Served twice on the Social Security Advisory Board’s Technical Panel on Assumptions and Methods (1999, 2011).
  • Serves on the editorial boards of Economics Letters, Journal of Pension Economics and Finance, and Review of Financial Economics.

Andrew A. Samwick is the Sandra L. and Arthur L. Irving ‘72a, P’10 Professor of Economics and the director of the Nelson A. Rockefeller Center for Public Policy and the Social Sciences at Dartmouth College. His scholarly work focuses on pensions, saving, taxation, portfolio choice, executive compensation, and related topics; his teaching addresses finance, public policy, and social entrepreneurship.

Samwick has served as the chief economist of the President’s Council of Economic Advisers and was selected as the New Hampshire Professor of the Year by the Carnegie Foundation. He earned his A.B. from Harvard University and his Ph.D. from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, both in economics.
