John Beshears is an assistant professor of business administration in the Negotiation, Organizations & Markets unit of Harvard Business School. He teaches the second-year MBA course "Managing, Organizing & Motivating for Value." Before joining HBS, he was an assistant professor of finance at the Stanford Graduate School of Business.
Beshears’s research concentrates on behavioral economics, a field that combines insights from psychology and economics to explore individual decision making and market outcomes. He focuses on understanding how financial decisions of households and firms are influenced by the institutional environment in which choices are made. He earned his A.B in economics and Ph.D. in business economics from Harvard University.
