Lee Lockwood is an associate professor of economics at the University of Virginia, research associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research, and an associate editor of the Journal of Political Economy. His main research fields are public finance and labor economics, with a focus on the effects of government social insurance programs on behavior and welfare. 

Lockwood holds a Ph.D. in economics from the University of Chicago, an MSc in economics from the London School of Economics, and a B.S. in industrial engineering and economics from Northwestern University. In 2019 he won the University of Virginia’s Research Achievement Award.
