  • Serves as senior advisor to the Forum for the Future of Higher Education, a think tank at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
  • Served as executive director of the Knight Foundation Commission on Intercollegiate Athletics and was affiliated with the commission for nearly 20 years.
  • Authored or edited more than two dozen books, reports and other publications.

Maureen E. Devlin is an independent higher education consultant whose work centers on generating knowledge and insights to guide higher education leaders’ decision making, chiefly in the areas of leadership, financial sustainability, and academic workforce management. Her clients include the TIAA Institute, Public Agenda, Forum for the Future of Higher Education, HCM Strategists, and the John S. and James L. Knight and Spencer foundations, among others.

Devlin also serves as a Senior Fellow in the Higher Education and Workforce Program at Public Agenda, which is committed to forging common ground and improving collaboration on key issues in higher education. She earned her A.B. in government at Harvard College and M.A. in sport administration at The Pennsylvania State University.
