PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Cristian Tiu is an Associate Professor and Chair of the Department of Finance and Dean’s Fellow in the School of Management of the University at Buffalo, where he has served since 2006. He is a member of several professional associations, including the American Finance Association, the American Real Estate and Urban Economics Association, and the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges. Cristian is a member of the Investment Committee of the University at Buffalo Foundation.
Focusing on empirical and theoretical investments, Tiu’s interests include research on nonstandard investors, such as hedge funds and university endowments, as well as the impact of economic instability and market segmentation on asset pricing. Tiu earned a B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Bucharest, Romania, and a Ph.D. in Mathematics and a Ph.D. in Finance from the University of Texas at Austin.
