Tonya Murray is Senior Director, TIAA Institute Marketing and Communications. She is responsible for developing, managing and executing marketing and communications strategies to raise the profile and visibility of the Institute as an innovative thought leader on issues pertaining to lifelong financial security and organizational effectiveness in higher education and the broader nonprofit sector.

Tonya is a seasoned marketing communications leader with over 25years of experience and leadership in strategic marketing and communications, thought leadership, B2B marketing, brand management, sponsorship marketing, corporate social responsibility and strategic culture transformation. During her career, she has effectively led and motivated teams to be stewards of change, developed integrated marketing strategies and experiences that helped engage clients in driving better retirement plan outcomes, and spearheaded and helped launch signature programs, 

Tonya is passionate about education, advancing racial and gender equity, women’s leadership, and art as a vehicle and catalyst for social change. Additionally, she is a champion of TIAA’s efforts with historically black colleges and universities.

She is a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated, and a former member of the Urban Bush Women, Inc. Dance Company Board of Directors.
