PROFESSIONAL ACHIEVEMENTS
Teresa Sullivan has served as president of the University of Virginia since 2010, and has completed a number of successful initiatives, including the Cornerstone Plan, an endowed Data Science Institute, and a Global Studies major, and the University’s $3-billion capital campaign. Sullivan came to UVA from the University of Michigan, where she was provost and executive vice president for academic affairs, and held previous roles with the University of Texas System.
A recognized scholar in the area of labor force demography, Sullivan has authored or coauthored six books and many scholarly articles. She is a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences and of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, serves as chair of the Council of Presidents for the Association of Governing Boards of Universities and Colleges, and is member of a number of additional professional organizations. Sullivan is a graduate of Michigan State University’s James Madison College, and earned her doctoral degree in sociology from the University of Chicago.
